The Signal Box Café is based in the beautifully restored Victorian station at Hollingbourne.

For years the station stood empty. Local people didn't want to see such an important part of the village disappear, so they rolled up their sleeves and brought it back to life.

Once, the station brought people together by rail. Today, it brings people together over coffee, good food, volunteering and friendship.

We're proud of the building we've saved. But we're even prouder of what happens inside it every day.

Why we’re here

The Signal Box Café is a place where people come together.

Some people come for breakfast. Others call in for a coffee after a walk. Some volunteer, some meet friends, and some simply enjoy being part of village life. We're proud to serve great food and coffee, but what really matters is what happens around the tables.

Every day we create opportunities for people to learn new skills, build confidence, gain experience and make new connections. Whether it's someone's first step into work, a chance to give something back, or simply finding a place where they feel welcome, everyone has something to offer.

The community came together to save this building. Today, it brings the community together..

We believe everyone has something to offer, whatever their age, background or experience.

We know that a chat over a coffee can brighten someone's day, and that volunteering can build confidence, friendships and skills in ways you don't always see straight away.

We're proud to serve good food, but we're even prouder when our café helps people feel connected, valued and part of something.

We also believe our beautiful station should be more than a building that's been restored. It should be full of life, creating opportunities for people and bringing the village together once again.

That's what The Signal Box Café is all about.
